Dad Vs Daughter- Beautiful story..MUST READ
I hurried down the stairs. I saw Meera, my sweet(??!!) wife, sitting in the couch giving breakfast to my 7yr old daughter Achala. Both looked happy, watching TV. I got confused at the whole scenario. I came running down, expecting some kind of earthquake, but instead here everything was in place. I looked at my wife & daughter. She smiled at me back. Now, I more got confused, what’s happening here? Am I in a dream?
‘Meera…’
‘Yeah Rajesh…’
‘You called me. In fact yelled.’
‘Yes. You are right!’
‘Everything is fine here right? Why you screamed like that then…’
‘It’s ‘cos it’s going to be 8am now.’
I couldn’t understand what she was trying to say. Is she playing some kind of prank? Is this the time for all these? I have to be in office by 9am for a meeting.
‘Yes. It’s going to be 8am.Right! So…?’
‘Rajesh, don’t tell me, you forgot…today is 27th ‘
‘27th..What 27th?
‘Don’t tell me you don’t remember?’
Meera gave me an ‘I’ll kill you’ look. Is it her birthday? No it’s somewhere at the year end. Is it my daughter’s? No no , we celebrated last month only right. Got it. Should be our Anniversary.
‘Hey Meera, How will I forget our Anniversary…’
‘Whaattttttt????….Anniversaryyyyy???…..’
Got it. It’s not our anniversary. Before I get killed…What’s w/ 27th. What ?? what?? Come on Rajesh!! Think. Nothing hit my mind. I looked at my daughter for a clue. She turned her face away. What’s with all women? Why can’t they be straight forward & say things. With so much work pressure, how on earth I am supposed to remember all the dates?. If I say something, then Meera will pick up a fight, and I will miss the meeting, my whole day will be gone. I made up my mind to surrender.
‘Meera, Sorry, I don’t remember. This medicine I am taking for cough, Something happened..my memory is deteriorating ..What’s today?’ Meera doesn’t seem like buying that excuse from me.
’Meera, please tell me’ I asked in a pitiable tone..
‘Rajesh..You don’t remember at all?’ I moved my head left & right meaning NO. I kept my face like I am a patient suffering from ‘amnesia'.
'Rajesh, As part of annual day celebrations, today is 'Daddy's Day' in Acchu's school. I have been telling you for the past 3 weeks. Now don’t tell me you forgot. You already promised that you will go with her to her school'
I couldn’t believe that I accepted for something like that. 'Meeraa..did I??'
'Yes. You did'
‘at what time it starts..?'
'By 8:30am and ends at 1pm'.
Gosh!! 9am!! I have such a critical meeting. How I will attend all these.
“Meera, you could have reminded me yesterday right?’
‘Oh I didn’t remind you? Great. I didn’t call to your office. Or remind you in the evening and before going to bed’
Might be I wouldn’t have heard it. Or slipped out of my memory. Whatever!!
'Meera! Can’t you attend all these. Why should I??'
"Rajesh. It’s Daddy's Day!...DADDY'ss!!!!!'
'Oh yeah....but...'
'But what????...'
'errrh....might be some other day...'
'What? You want the school to postpone the function?'
'No..No…actually..what..I am saying is..'
'What Rajesh??? What?? Tell me. You promised Acchu and are you going to disappoint her? '
I stood there totally helpless. I looked at my daughter. She was all dressed up and ready to go. She looked like, she will cry any time. I saw Meera. She gave me a murderous look. I thought for a moment and my mind raced with many calculations. Important meeting. I can’t miss for sure. Half a day is too much. So many deliverables will get affected. I can’t face Meera again if I don’t go. Might be I can postpone the meeting by an hour and for name sake visit that function and escape to office.
'Meera, I will go, but I can spend only 1 hour..'
'No...that’s not..'
Before Meera finished the sentence, Acchu rushed to me 'Thanks daddy. 1hour. Mom, 1hour is enough mom. Please don’t fight mom. Daddy, get ready soon..' she nudged me.
‘Do you know her school name and the route for the school or you want me to tell???’ Asking that Meera threw me an angry look and left the living room. I rushed up, got ready. Called my manager & told that I got stuck in traffic jam and postponed the meeting to 10am.
I took Achala to her school. I felt somehow entering the school, ‘cos it’s the 2nd time, I am entering her school. In fact 1st time. I once dropped her outside her school gate. The school had a big playground, Small Park with all kids playing equipments. Some stalls were put up. So many kids with their fathers moved around here & there. Suddenly I felt some one touching my hand
‘Are you achala’s daddy?’ – A small kid asked. She had curly hair and bubbly smile.
‘Yes,,,My Daddy..…’ – Achala responded in an excited tone. And some kids ran towards me and Achala started introducing everyone.
‘Daddy! this is Rohit, this is zakir, Anis, Sylvia, Divya..’ – I told hello to everyone.
‘Daddy, Daddy, Zakir is my best friend.’ – I smiled at that cute blue eyed boy.
‘Uncle, Acchu told that you have so much work and you won’t be able to come. She told she won’t come in today. You don’t have work Uncle?’ – Zakir asked me.
I suddenly felt very bad on how my daughter has understood me. ‘No Zakir, I don’t have work’
‘Daddy, they are calling for the games. ‘ . Zakir ran to his father and waved his hands at me & achala. I took achala by hand and walked towards the stage. They were announcing the 1st game. Fathers will be given a sheet containing questions about their kids. Fathers have to fill about their kids which will be verified with the kids response.
Achala was all excited about the game and she was all set to go. But I felt shivers. I looked at my daughter. Suddenly, I felt very far from her, and the reality hit me, that I don’t know anything about my very own daughter. I blurted out ‘Acchu..we will attend the next game..This one ..’ She gave me a deep stare. I thought she is going to cry or shout or do something. But instead she pulled out a small paper from her jeans pocket and gave it to me. Completely baffled, I opened the sheet.
”My name is Achala. My birthday March 21st. I am 7yrs old. I like butterfly. Superman. Dairy milk. painting. dancing. I am in 1st standard A section. I like Dora. Mango. Apple. Fried rice. Jelly. I don’t like banana. I drink boost.. I like yellow color. My nick name is ‘Honey dew’”
And the list went on with small, small spelling mistakes. I looked at Acchu. ‘Daddy, read it, I know they will keep this game. So I wrote it 2 days back itself, to give you if you come. If they ask anything about me, write there. Ok Now go & attend the game’. Most of the things, my daughter has written & gave me, I never knew anything about it. I suddenly felt a lump in my throat. I went to the stage waved my hand to Acchu and got the question sheet. Since Acchu gave the sheet, I came to know about her & I answered almost all the questions. Then they asked Acchu on stage and asked the questions to her. We got the 2nd highest mark in that game. Acchu came running towards me and hugged me. They gave a ‘toy guitar’. Everyone congratulated us. Thou’ I won that game, I felt like a loser. I know, I don’t deserve this. I don’t know anything about my daughter.
She looked very happy showing that guitar to her best friend, zakir . What a kid she is. Understanding that her dad is totally hopeless and don’t want to let her dad down, before others she prepared that sheet and gave to me. The lump in my throat started getting bigger and my heart became heavy. I caressed her hair. What a beautiful smile she has and such big eyes. Does she miss a wing to get qualified as an angel? I have never admired my daughter or even watched her in all these years. She has that cute dimple of Meera’s as well as her eyes. Does that curling lip edges when she smiles, is mine? How I missed all this in my life.
Achala pulled me to the stalls there and I got some eatables and balloons for her and zakir.. She kept talking about the next game and suddenly my mobile rang. Oops!! Is it already 10am. I looked at Acchu . Suddenly her face became dark. She looked totally upset and asked in an low voice ‘Daddy! You have to leave now?’
I looked at my mobile. My manager was calling. It’s already 10am. I looked at Acchu. I looked around. All those happy kids with their fathers. I thought about my school days, where my dad used to come for all sports day, annual day, sit with me, cheer me up. Every day morning, while dropping me to school, he will wait near the gate until my head disappear. Evening, he will come & pick me up in his cycle, and I will be telling him all the stories that happened that day in school.
I saw Acchu. How many untold stories my daughter has kept in her heart to say me? I thought about all those days, where I yearned for a girl child and I wonder, how much of my time I gave her.
I pulled her closer, gave a kiss on her fore head ‘No Honey! I am not going. I will be here only…we will attend all games and roam around whole day.ok?’
‘Really?’ – She asked in an unbelievable tone.
‘Yes sweetz’
‘Thank you Daddy!’ – Achala kissed my cheeks and ran to her friends. School teaches you something or the other always. This time, ‘back to school’ has taught me a wonderful life’s lesson. I called my manager & told that am running high fever and can’t come in today. I know, I can handle things tomorrow. Today my daughter needs me more than anyone can need me in this world. With a lighter heart, I got up; ran towards Acchu, lifted her and gave her a big swing. She erupted into an uncontrollable laughter. The lump in my throat started melting away.

actually want to share a beautiful letter of a friend to her friend
check out the letter below ..
Vasanthy just finished writing the email. She felt so much better after writing the email. Before hitting the "Send" button, she read the email once, corrected few lines. She then went on to complete the household activities.
It was Vasanthy's routine to send email to her dearest friend Pavithra whenever she felt down. She pile out all the issues, how it happened, what does she feel about that, what is Niranjan's reaction to those issues etc. Usually the mail comes to 150 lines minimum. Pavithra's response to the email wont be longer, but always comforts her. She replies saying that she understood Vasanthy very well and gives some courage words.
The core concept of her emails goes like this...
- How much she wanted baby, how long she was ttc and how she feels everytime when she sees little babies in public places...
- How irresponsible Niranjan is, how he wont come forward in helping her in household activities etc...
- How her in-laws speak senseless, how they question her about her treatment, and the pressure from them during this ttc journey...
- How tiring her travel to job is, how often her in-laws visit her home and wont help her in activities even she came late from office...
- And how early she got married to undergo all these issues...
Whatever she feels inside she puts in words and send them in long emails to her friend Pavithra. She is her sweetest single friend. Although she works in busy projects, she always gives importance to Vasanthy. She feels more than happy to support her either in person or in emails. As Vasanthy is newly married, she feels that its her responsibility as a dearest friend to be all ears to her issues and provide moral support. She knows that after Vasanthy sends her email, she will expect reply from her within a day or two.
Pavithra read the mail from Vasanthy that day. It was mixture of all the points explained above. She called her roommate and said that she will come in house drop cab at 9.30PM as she had some work to finish. She started typing the response, "Dear Vasanthy.... "
Vasanthy came to her workplace the next day morning. She was surprised to see a mail from Pavithra and opened it. It was pretty lengthy email. Vasanthy grabbed a cup of coffee and started reading the email.
Dear Vasanthy,
I read your email very carefully. I was so worried about you Vasanthy. Not because you were undergoing so much troubles. But because you were thinking these are troubles. I was so worried about you that you were becoming a self-sympathetic person day by day.
I am sorry to tell you like this and I know this is not the kind of response you expected from me. I wanted to provide you moral support throughout my life. But if I dont make you stop here and realise where are you going now, I am afraid you would grow as a self-centric person who always expects constant attention from others. This will mess your married life.
Vasanthy, life is complicated by itself. Dont make it even worse by blowing up small things.
I can understand that a baby is the joy of married couples and nothing is more important to them than a baby. If you dont have a baby now, it doesn't mean you wont have it at all. It may get delay but it will happen. You know it yourself. But you avoid tasting the actual joys in your life and appreciate what you have now, because you keep worrying about what you dont have. Of course you have to take necessary steps towards it and you are doing it. Additionally mourning about this only multiplies your worries, isn't it?
My sister's in-laws never talked to her since the day they got married. They always sees my sister as a person who came to steal their son from them. They speak to their son whenever they call, but never asked about my sister. She is a very kind girl but her in laws never saw her good characters. I am sure even if she delivers a baby, they wont have much affection towards that baby as well. Its one example. There are lots of examples like this. But your in-laws actually cares about you. They worry about you starting a family. When you tell them the good news they will be as much as happy as you are. I am sure you wont be having any doubt in that. If you tell them in soft, kind voice and explain that their constant questions pressures you, they will lessen doing that.
There are somethings I never shared with you. Last weekend, a family from Trichy came to Chennai to see me. My parents also came all the way from Bangalore. They first sent me the guy's picture. He looked very handsome. I expressed my interest to my parents. I put on my finest saree and finest jewelleries. We have planned to meet in Kabaleeshwarar temple. The guy looked more handsome than in the picture, you know. Our parents talked for a while. My uncle who played a role as mediator between the 2 families, asked the guy's parents whether they can allow both of us to speak for 10 mins. The guy just replied, "That's not necessary!". We came home and the marriage broker called home. I didnt know what he told, but I heard what my father replied. "Why should I lie about my daughter's age? She is 26 only. She is working day and night in her company. So she looks a bit aged.". The guy actually thought I am in my 30s. This is not the first guy to reject me. As far as I know he is 8th one rejecting after seeing me. I dont know how many of them rejected on seeing my picture. I can't stand the sorry face of my parents when they see me after each rejection. My father who wont talk girlie stuff, last week told me "Pavi, I heard there are lots of beauty treatments. Why dont you go for it? Next time you can do a facial or something. Think about it". I so wanted to get married. I got sick of going to the room where my recenty got engaged roommate speaks hours and hours with her fiance. I got tired of rejections. I want to be in a family, with my husband, to lie on his shoulders, to make him taste my cookings, to buy him surprise gifts, to comb his hair when he goes to office, iron his clothes. I have passed the phase where I see a guy's picture and tell whether I like him or not. I am now longing for somebody to like me. Telling you Vasanthy, if a guy actually likes me and chooses me to marry him, I will take care of him till my last cell dies. He is going to be my first baby. When I sit in front of the guy's family members with my head down, knowing that each pair of eyes judging me, I think how lucky you are.
Amongst the men who drinks and beats their wives, cheating their wives by having secret affair, not trusting their wives and not let them go outside the house or speak with anybody else, dont you feel you are lucky that you got Niranjan as your husband?
Vasanthy if we want to pick troubles in your life, we can say even lifting the food in spoon, putting in mouth, munching it and swallowing it as difficult too. The moment you feel that you are lucky to be living this life, you will throw away all the unnecessary things and start appreciate every little moments. Remember any trouble that dont kill you makes you a stronger person.
I hope you will understand what I am trying to say here. I am always here to help you and support you. You dont have to reply to this email. Just think about it.
Love,
Pavi
Vasanthy finished reading the email. She then opened the "Sent Items" of her mail box and filtered the mails she sent to Pavithra. There were 48 mails in 8 months. Most of them were lengthy emails. She randomly chose one email and read it. She realised how much she complained about her husband, her mother in law, her work and her parents too in some of the emails. There was an email in the inbox from Niranjan, she just noticed. She opened it. It said, "Hi, when did you reach office? I heard the trains will be delayed due to rain. Try to leave early." She then filtered Niranjan's emails in her inbox. There were loads of single line emails checking whether she reached safely, when will she start in the evening, had she had lunch, how is the day going, should he buy groceries in the evening etc... She then opened Pavithra's email, and replied
"I am lucky to have you as my friend Pavi..."

Very Beautiful and very touching one.
Yes one has to be sensitive enough to understand the problems the other person is going through. thou u are closest of friends ,everybody wil have different types of problems.
if your friend is smiling always , if she is encouraging you always, if she is crying only for ur problems doesn't mean that she is happy ,she doesn't have problems.
she do have as a friend its ur responsibility to understand that .
Please don take advantage of your friend :) .
all such things are done by our close friends only, howmuch ever close u are .. one has to be sensitive.. sensitive towards the problems faced by the other person too. Life is for everybody so are problems .
if a person doesn't show emotions that doesn't mean the person is heartless or emotionless :)see in the above letter too Vasanthy always told about her problems but she never tot about her friend pavitra's problems..
In fact pavitra was the one who was going thru rough phase of life .pavitra was good enough to understand vasanthy's problems(she kept aside all her problems) but on the contrary every body cannot be like this. there is limit for everything..
am i right .. ? if u want to save you any relation not only friendship you have to be sensitive..
thats is all i feel .. hope ppl understand me and my point of view.

FORGET AND FORGIVE
"Things are easier said than done".
One can forgive easily but forgetting is one of the difficult jobs in the world।if u forget the pains/insults caused by others then no doubt u can forgive them as well .
but just imagine how difficult it is to forgive without forgetting !!
can u force anything to get out of ur memory lane ?
you may tend to ignore the things but forgeting a bit difficult thing to d.
ok few questions
can u forget a friend whom u supported at all the times and when it was his/her turn to support u turned hostile ? can u forget the pain caused by this blunder ? no
your friend may convince you that he/she was not in position to support you but then can u forget thet episode happened .. You may speak to your friend very nicely and you may ignore but at some stage of your life you wil be haunted by all these things.
can u forget an incidence where in your friend insulted you for no fault of urs।here too you may forgive your friend but forgetting is bit difficult :)
some people say "nothing is impossible" i say forgetting is possible only in 2 situation
1. when something good happens which wil force you not to remember bad things
2. if you loose your memory :D
these are only choosen instances but from past life one can find lot of things like this
which are forgivable but not forgetable.. :)
What do u say ? :)

Hut on Fire
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
One day after scavenging for food he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. "GOD, how could you do this to me?" he cried.
Early the next day he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.
"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers.
"We saw your smoke signal," they replied.
It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because GOD is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain, and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of GOD.
